AI in the Future of Jobs Report 2025
In January, the World Economic Forum published its highly anticipated Future of Jobs Report 2025, offering valuable insights into how technological advancements, economic shifts, and demographic trends are shaping the global job market. According to the report, 86% of employers expect artificial intelligence (AI) to have a transformative impact on their businesses by 2030.
Key transformative trends
One of the most significant trends identified in the report is the broadening of digital access, which will facilitate greater inclusivity in the workforce. Other major trends include advancements in robotics and automation, as well as innovations in energy generation, storage, and distribution. These shifts are poised to redefine industries and create new opportunities for workers equipped with the right skill sets.
The fastest-growing jobs: technology leads the way
Unsurprisingly, technology-related roles dominate the list of the fastest-growing jobs. The report highlights significant demand for professionals in fields such as Big Data, Fintech, AI and Machine Learning, Software and Application Development. These roles are critical in driving innovation and ensuring businesses remain competitive in an increasingly digital economy.
The skills of the future

The report underscores the importance of AI and Big Data as the fastest-growing skill sets, followed closely by Networks and Cybersecurity and general technological literacy. Employers are also prioritising core competencies such as analytical thinking, resilience, flexibility, and agility—qualities that are essential for navigating the rapidly evolving job landscape.
Technological literacy is no longer optional—it is a necessity. As digital transformation accelerates, the ability to understand and leverage AI-driven tools will be a fundamental requirement across industries.
Skills gaps: major barrier to business transformation
Despite the increasing demand for AI-driven roles, a significant challenge remains—skills gaps. The Future of Jobs survey reveals that skills shortages are the biggest barrier to business transformation. Two-thirds of surveyed employers plan to hire new employees with specialised AI skills, while 50% of businesses anticipate restructuring in response to AI integration. Importantly, this does not necessarily mean job losses—60% of employers do not intend to reduce their workforce, although 40% acknowledge that AI-driven automation will lead to some job displacement.

Growing demand for generative AI skills
Among AI-related skills, expertise in generative AI is experiencing an extraordinary surge in demand. The report shows that within just one year, demand for generative AI skills has nearly tripled. This reflects the growing adoption of AI-powered tools across sectors and the need for professionals who can harness their potential effectively.
What it means for learners and job seekers
The message is clear: acquiring AI skills is a smart investment in the future. ARISA is here to support learners and educators with valuable resources, helping them navigate this evolving landscape. We are preparing to launch a learning platform featuring free, self-paced AI courses, along with a dedicated alumni group and specialised resources for job seekers in AI-related fields.
