ARISA Partners meeting in Ljubljana

On 22–23 May, ARISA Partners met in Ljubljana, Slovenia, for a key consortium meeting as the ARISA project enters its final year.

Discussions focused on expanding impact across Europe, including:

✅ Piloting AI learning programmes
✅ Boosting Train-the-Trainer uptake
✅ Advancing the ARISA Academy
✅ Updating the AI Skills Strategy
✅ Planning future events and workshops.

  • AI Skills Strategy for Europe (2024 update)
    ARISA launched the AI Skills Strategy for Europe to tackle key challenges, drawing on the AI Skills Needs Analysis, best practices, and stakeholder input. Updated annually (last in December 2024), the Strategy aims to support innovative, inclusive, and ethical AI education and training across Europe, forming a strong foundation for the continent’s AI future.
  • Micro-credentials and recognition system
    This document aims to facilitate and test the application of micro-credentials to the certification of the ARISA Learning Programmes for facilitating their recognition both in the labour market and for further studies.
  • Design the train-the-trainers programme
    This programme supports the implementation of ARISA learning resources by equipping trainers with the information needed to:facilitate reskilling and upskilling, and to help educators and organisations run new learning programmes based on ARISA curricula.

­­Meeting the AI Act: Building the ecosystem of European AI literacy through cross-national policy engagement and cooperation

The European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) of 2024 marks a shift from principle to practice in setting new standards for AI governance. The transition, however, from regulation to operational reality remains challenging, particularly in the case of AI literacy. Indeed, the AI Act sets expectations for a company’s staff to have a “sufficient level of AI literacy” in article 4. The term “sufficient level” is quite broad and may benefit from clearer guidance, as it can be challenging for many organisations - particularly those with limited resources, such as SMEs and start-ups - to interpret and apply effectively. During Artificial Intelligence Skills Alliance’s (ARISA) Final Conference on 26 March 2026, the panel discussion “From AI literacy to AI deployment: operationalising the AI Act across Europe” delved deeper into how policymakers may make the abstract concrete.
